Andrzej Glegolski was born on June 4, 1943. He was a dancer, choreographer and pedagogue.
In 1966, he joined the Grand Theater in Warsaw as a dancer and assistant choreographer. From 1969 to 1972 he was a dancer with the ballet of the Marseilles Opera and the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm. He worked as a teacher in Paris: from 1972 at the Académie Internationale da la Danse, and from 1974 at his own ballet studio. Starting in 1979, he organized groups of dancers for whom he developed his own choreographies. From 1989 onwards, he has worked as a choreographer with Polish companies, such as the ballet company of the Grand Theater in Warsaw and the Polish Dance Theater in Poznań.
Glegolski performed in such productions as: Ballet Night: Nocturne and Tarantella, Mandragora and Harnasie by Karol Szymanowski (choreographed by Witold Gruca [1 and 2], Eugeniusz Paplinski [3]; Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw, 1966), Ballet Miniatures (Warsaw Salon by Michal Kleofas Oginski, Feliks Janiewicz and Maria Szymanowska / Voci (Voices) by Augustyn Bloch / Loneliness by Augustyn Bloch; choreography: Witold Gruca; Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw, 1968), Ballet Evening: Francesca da Rimini by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Giselle by Adolphe Adam (solo part in Giselle; choreography: Alexei Chichinadze; Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw, 1968) and Cinderella by Sergei Prokofiev (The Prince’s Guard; choreography and direction: Alexei Chichinadze; Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw, 1969).
Among others, he worked as an assistant choreographer on a production of Karol Szymanowski’s Harnasie (choreography: Eugeniusz Papliński; Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw, 1966; as part of Ballet Night: Nocturne and Tarantella, Mandragora and Harnasie by Karol Szymanowski).
Glegulski also developed choreographies for such productions as Peter Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker (Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw, 1989) and Ludwig A. Minkus’ Don Quixote (Grand Theater – National Opera in Warsaw, 1992).
