Dawid Lorencis a dancer, performer, culture manager, and teacher of contemporary dance and stage improvisation. He made his debut in the Figiel Dance Theatre, which his mother, Małgorzata Lorenc, was running. In 2003-06 he danced for the Alter Dance Theatre of Witold Jurewicz.In 2006 he completed the Training Cycle at the Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.) in Brussels, a school of Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker.
Lorenc has participated in the international exchange programme danceWEB, as well as a range of festivals, workshops, dance projects and artistic exchanges in Europe and beyond. From 2009 to 2012 he was a member of Wim Vandekeybus’ Ultima Vez. He still occasionally collaborates with the ensemble as performer and instructor. Since 2010 as an independent artist he been taking part in different projects, performances and events based mainly on improvisation. Since 2011 he has been working with Pracownia Fizyczna of Jacek Owczarek.
Dawid is a member of Połczyn Cultural Innovations, a local cultural association, and has been organising the Contemporary Dance Workshops in Połczyn-Zdrój, Poland, since 2010. He also holds the position of artistic director of the Połczyn Dance Festival. As a creator and performer he has collaborated with various artists and ensembles, including Witold Jurewicz (Alter Dance Theatre), Wim Vandekeybus (Ultima Vez), Jacek Owczarek (Pracownia Fizyczna), Leszek Bzdyl & Katarzyna Chmielewska (Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre), Paweł Szamburski & Patryk Zatrocki (SzaZa), Nanoshlaft, Aneta Zwierzyńska, Karen Grenwitch, Mikko Hyvonen, David Zambrano, David Hernandez, Mikael Marklund, Esztenyi Szabolcs, Bogusław Kierc, Iwona Olszowska, Arek Buszko, Radosław Hewelt, Filip Szatarski, Mikołaj Trzaska, Krystyna Mazurówna and Marcin Masecki.
He has been awarded scholarships by the Polish minister of culture (2007), the European Commission (2006/07), the Flemish Community (2008), and the Marshal of Zachodniopomorskie Province (2010).
