Liwia Bargieł is a dancer, choreographer, graduate of the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance in London, UK. She holds a D.A. in Theatre and teaches at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Warsaw. As a dancer, she has performed in pieces by Carolin Finn, Guilherme Bothelo, Maciej Kuźmiński, Hygin Delimat, Mikołaj Mikołajczyk, Tomek Ciesielski, Elwira Piorun and Ula Sickle (performative exhibition).
Liwia Bargieł is the author of choreographies to such theatre productions as Joanna Szalona. Królowa [Queen Joanna the Mad], Tragedia Jana X [Tragedy of John X] (both directed by Waldemar Raźniak), Opowiadanie Brazylijskie [Brazilian Short Story] (directed by Marcin Hycnar), Demon Teatru, czyli mniejsza o to [Theatre Demon/Nevermind] (directed by Andrzej Domalik), and Wiedźmin [The Witcher] (directed by Wojciech Kościelniak).
She has directed and choreographed several original pieces, including Iluminacje [Illuminations], Witzelsucht, Szron/Frost, Body Bank, and co-authored interdisciplinary pieces and installations: Pozycja początkowa-wertykalna [Initial/Vertical Position], Nullpunkt, Treatise (commissioned by the 2016 Warsaw Autumn Festival).
Liwia Bargieł is currently collaborating with the visual artist Bartłomiej Kiełbowicz on a cycle of video pieces and performative activities Pandemobook.
