Łódź Grand Theatre: Dance show LAMAILA directed by Macej Pawłowski, choreographed by Maciej Morawiec

The Łódź Grand Theatre (pl. Dąbrowskiego) is pleased to invite everyone to the premiere of Lamaila, a dance show in two acts and 19 scenes directed by Maciej Pawłowski and choreographed by Andrzej Morawiec. The premiere performances will be presented on 25-26 March 2017 (7pm), preceded by the world premiere on 24 March (6:30 pm).

Lamaila?s libretto was written by Liwia Pawłowska, and the music was composed by Maciej Pawłowski. The plot recounts the events which take place in the Land of Day and Night, with the main heroine, the Princess of the Day (the eponymous Lamaila) is awoken in the middle of the night by Mr. Gurgle, a comical creature inhabiting the depths of the swamp. Owing the full moon, Lamaila falls in love with the Prince of the Night, Namadil. Once everyone is sure the couple will never meet again, the events take an unexpected turn.

The music has a Disney-like ring to it, driven by beautiful melodies. The majority of music was instrumented by the master of the genre and Poland?s foremost ballet music composer, Bogdan Pawłowski, whose Snow White has been a reliable staple of the Łódź Grand Theatre repertoire. All signs indicate that Lamaila may dethrone the erstwhile princess in terms of popularity.
