Hieronim Konieczka Polish Theatre in Bydgoszcz, 2 Mickiewicza Ave., will present on Saturday 27 February at 7 pm the premiere of The Borders, directed by Bartek Frąckowiak, with choreography and dramaturgy by Iza Szostak. The performance is based on Julia Holewińska?s text that uses the concept of ?four-level access control model? applied by EU?s Frontex agency in actions protecting European Union borders. An image from a Frontex brochure, presenting in the simplest possible way the model?s actions, procedures and subjects, became an inspiration to create a theatrical board game with characters like Child?s Body, Border, Lex Frontex, Refugee and Artist who take the challenge and implement strategies closely linked with security, crossing the borders, migration policy, and above all ? with economics. Documentaries, ethnographic and sociological articles, refugee maps, various discourses related to migration, mobility, refugees, territory, sovereignty, control, surveillance and borders, as well as paintings and photographs become a starting point for theatre and performative games, helping to explore the most important topic of the current public debate in an inconspicuous way.
