On Friday, 25 November 2016 (7 pm) the Polish National Opera in Warsaw will host the premiere of the ballet night in three parts Chopiniana / Bolero / Chroma. A triple dose of aesthetic impressions and emotions by the Polish National Ballet is dedicated to its director Krzysztof Pastor, for whom the 2016/17 season marks a fourfold jubilee: his birthday, the beginning of his ballet career, solo and choreographic work.
Krzysztof Pastor has been the titular choreographer in residence with Amsterdam?s Het Nationale Ballet. In 2009, he was appointed the director of the Warsaw ballet, helping re-establish the company as an artistically autonomous ensemble. Since 2011, he has also worked as the artistic director of the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius. Throughout his career, Pastor has contributed choreographies for such companies as Het Nationale Ballet, Joffrey Ballet, Washington Ballet, Australian Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet and many others.
To mark Pastor?s quadruple jubilee, the Polish National Opera will feature a premiere ballet night Chopiniana/ Bolero/ Chroma. The project mirrors the main repertoire currents of the Polish National Ballet: cultivating tradition, nurturing Polish choreography, and fostering the relationship with the global contemporary ballet. The evening will thus feature the neoromantic Chopiniana choreographed by Mikhail Fokin to the music of Frederic Chopin, Maurice Ravel?s Bolero choreographed by Krzysztof Pastor and the Polish premiere of the ballet hit Chroma by the British choreographer Wayne McGregor, one of the foremost choreographers in the recent years, to the music of Joby Talbot and Jack White III.
Repeat performances: 26, 27 and 29 November 2016 and 24, 26 February, 4-5 March 2017.
