On the last Sunday of February (26 February, 7 pm) the Żak Club in Gdańsk will host the premieres of performances produced as part of the Residency/Premiere 2017 Competition and the 9th Gdańsk Dance Festival. Supervised by the coach Marc Vanrunxt, young artists: Natalia Rytelewska- Chilczuk, and the duo of Daniela Komędera and Dmytro Grynov will present their new pieces, Obieg człowieka w przyrodzie [Human Circulation in Nature] and I GOINDEEPE/ANDANCE, respectively.
About the pieces:
Human Circulation in Nature
Coal is a fundamental building material of organisms. Our energetic economy is based on coal, and coal burning vitally contributes to air pollution. Do we live in a coal-dominant world? Does the circulation of coal in nature overlap with the cycle of human life? Can we escape from industrialization and return to nature? The idea of the piece was born during a year-long scholarship in Germany, which took Natalia 1000 m below the ground to follow the work of miners extracting hard coal. Her dream is to stage dance performances in former electric power plants and coal mines such as the Zeche Zollverein in Essen.

I GOINDEEPE/ANDANCE
Does the event in which you participate make you feel independent? Are you a pan on someone else?s chessboard? Do you impose your will on the body, or does Your will belong to someone else? Freedom is the only word with which I can get carried away. The project involves a collaboration between artists representing two Slavic countries: Poland and Ukraine. It is a genuine attempt to examine the current cultural and political circumstances, which the artists experience in the process of independent expression of their thoughts and feelings, both on stage and in personal life.

The Competition is organised to seek out a performance project in broadly defined contemporary dance. The goal of the Competition is to support and promote contemporary dance/contemporary ballet.
