The finale of the 6th Maat Festival “Israel Now” will take place in Lublin in 5?8 December 2014. As the organisers wrote:
“Travelling through Israel in August we were amazed by the country’s great warmth and the energy of the people! We met a lot of friends. We watched this magnificent land, dance and multicultural presence. We want to share with you now some of this warmth, both of the place and the people! We focus on the process and this is what we want to watch ? outcomes and answers we leave to others. This year, inside our regular meeting place ? white cube ? meet up with the heat of Israel and the artists of that country who will occupy the space of MAAT FESTIVAL! Seven residences (Daphna Horenczyk, Lilach Livne, Andrea Costanzo Martini, Adi Weinberg, Michael Getman, Talia De Vries and Peter Trojan), focusing mainly on the transformation of the human body, its evolution in dance and in the process: an internal laboratory? We will finally serve them to you on 5?8 December in Lublin.”
Once again an integral part of all residences will be documentary films created by Patrycja Płanik who recorded artists’ work while she spent time with them, creating a multimedia collection about the most interesting personalities of contemporary young dance.
MAAT FESTIVAL is an international residency programme that has become a specific “home of dance” where you may meet guesting artists throughout the year. It is the first Polish festival that unfolds as a series of artistic residencies in the course of the whole year. No other event held in Poland has such an elaborate formula. Each residency is accompanied with a docufiction film about the artist. We hope that MAAT FESTIVAL becomes a residency platform for performative arts and dance that has a permanent place on the Polish dance scene. Once again we are opening MAAT FESTIVAL to artists whose main goal is to work out, no matter how laboriously, a new dance language.
