The Joyce Theater in New York, the Laurel Fund and the Kennedy Center in Washington, in association with the Polish Cultural Institute in New York present performances of the Polish National Ballet in New York (16-21 June 2015) and Washington (23 June). Polish ballet company will debut on the stage of the the Joyce Theater in The Rite of Spring by Emanuel Gat to music by Stravinsky and two pieces directed by Krzysztof Pastor Allegro/Scherzo (music: Schubert) and Moving Rooms (music: Schnittke and Górecki).

Both of Krzysztof Pastor’s pieces play with the audience’s mood and emotions through their pure choreographic form, plastic neoclassical dance, the shades of space and the play of lights, all set to music by the great masters: Schubert, Schnittke, and Górecki.

The Polish National Ballet is heir to a tradition dating back to the 18th century, when King Stanisław August set up Poland’s first professional ballet company, known as the His Majesty’s National Dancers. Today, 250 years after the birth of Public Theatre in Poland, the Polish National Ballet performs productions of the highest quality, drawing from the classical repertoire, 20th century works, and new pieces, commissioned by the Ballet. The ballet of the Teatr Wielki ? Polish National Opera has toured extensively, visiting most countries in Europe, as well as the USA and Canada, Argentina and Brazil, Israel, China, and Taiwan.
