On 5 December, at 12.00 and 15.00, a premiere of a performance Flying&Falling by Berlin o.N. Theatre, choreography of Rafał Dziemidok and Florian Bilbao, will take place in Studio Słodownia +3, Stary Browar, as a part of the project Old Brewery New Dance For Kids ? Dancing Families (Stary Browar Nowy Taniec dla Dzieci ? Roztańczone Rodziny). Flying&Falling is a dance performance consisting of poetic images prepared for children aged 2 and up. Two dancers, Rafał Dziemidok (Poland) and Florian Bilbao (France) will meet for the first time on an exceptionally bouncy stage. Together they will create a performance of movement about flying and falling. In a funny way, they will present to their young audience a universal human longing for flying. With the means of the dancers? choreography, both the younger and the older viewers will discover a well-known truth that falling is an inherent part of flying.
What has risen has to fall eventually. High, high up in the air or just a few centimetres above the ground – happily jumping, rolling, bopping and stumbling. Rising and falling. And so on and so forth – bam! from the air to the ground. We lift ourselves, stand up, try to stand upright, unwavering, finding our balance. And then we try to fly once more ? shooting up and soaring.
Frank Fierke ? an artist specialising in creating 3D air objects; for the performance, he has built a veritable wish fulfilment machine. He has created a scenery which allows us to stand firm on the ground or jump like crazy and land in the most unusual ways. After the dancers have tested how this exceptional space functions, they will invite the audience to join them in flying and falling.
German o.N. Theatre is the organiser of the International Theatre Festival for the youngest viewers FRATZ. The performance had its world premiere during this event, accompanied by an academic symposium on theatre, dance and artistic education of the youngest children. The theatre has been active for 35 years in Berlin district called Prenzlauer Berg, which can be surely called the Berlin childhood centre. In the last five years, the Theatre has become specialised in creating performances for the youngest audience, children aged 2 and up, which are staged not only in Germany, but also abroad. In 2014, the group has been awarded with George Tabori Prize for their work. Flying&Falling is one more step in the development of an artistic language, which the creators use to communicate with the audience. At the same time, it is the first dance performance for such young viewers that this stage has seen. The performance has been created in cooperation with a Polish partner ? Art Stations Foundation from Poznań, which for the last 5 years, as a part of its varied activities concentrated on contemporary dance, has conducted a programme Old Brewery New Dance (Stary Browar Nowy Taniec). The programme includes activities connected with dancing directed at the youngest children (Old Brewery New Dance For Kids).
