The odds were stacked against me both physically and economically,” she says. “I went out into the world, I followed my own path, a very different path. And now I am HERE!” She has been granted six scholarships in her time. In 1998 and 2001, Galili directed the Groningen International Competition for Choreographers. In 2009, Itzik returned to Amsterdam as the co-founder and artistic director of the contemporary dance company Dansgroep Amsterdam.
