On Sunday, 3 February, at 7 p.m. in Warsaw (Teatr Academia, ul. 11 listopada 22) Eidel Dance will present a psychical theatre performanceMemory: Reconstruction.Memory is a process by means of which information is encoded, stored, and retrieved. Encoding allows information from the outside world to reach our senses in the forms of chemical and physical stimuli. Storage entails retaining information over periods of time. Finally retrieval of information returns it to our consciousness. Some retrieval attempts may be effortless. Others will prove tiresome or even aimless – the imperfection of storage material slowly but continuously alters our inner-selves into a creation of our own at the expense of coherence with reality. In the environment of incomplete, insufficient and often falsified information our attempts to reconstruct the actual and true line of events are doomed to fail.
In this piece of movement and story, we will not investigate on that. Leaving academic definitions behind, we will dance the past experiences with the hope that they are accurate and truthfully represent the past. Even though we know they are not.
