Established in 2003, the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute deals with the documentation, promotion and animation of Polish theatrical life. The Institute stimulates the public debate on contemporary Polish theater, broadens the perspectives of the attendant academic reflections, and supports research and educational activities while also running www.e-teatr.pl, the largest vortal dedicated entirely to Polish theater, as well as the specialist bookshop Księgarnia PROSPERO www.prospero.e-teatr.pl. Since January 1, 2014, the Institute has been managed by Dorota Buchwald, who succeeded its previous and original head Maciej Nowak as director.
The Institute contains the largest Polish thematic archive covering contemporary theater. Its vast collection of press articles, reviews, pictures, theatrical programs, playbills, posters, and documents related to respective theaters is available to everyone. So are the files containing press clippings on individual artists, consecutive editions of theater and film festivals, theater schools, and specialist periodicals, which are available on location at the Institutes reading room. Many digitalized documents can also be accessed through a virtual archive at www.e-teatr.pl.
