The 41st Cracow Theatrical Reminiscences Festival will feature two dance pieces. Opening the festival on 7 October (6.30 pm, Łaźnia Nowa Theatre) will be the solo piece Der Bau by the German choreographer Isabelle Schad. Prepared in collaboration with the French artist Laurent Goldring, the piece was inspired by Franz Kafka?s unfinished novel of the same title. Using a lush and lively yet at the same time sophisticated matter of movement, the naked Isabelle Schad utilizes the cavern as a metaphor of the human body. The Kafkaesque labyrinth ? described as a space isolated from the body and yet affiliated to it ? is represented through the emotional interaction with a large sheet of fabric, which transforms the visual and physical links between the body and space.

On the following night (8 October, 6.30 pm), CRICOTECA will host Marta Ziółek?s Make Yourself (produced by Komuna//Warszawa). The piece begins with training, command, and physical sculpture. An experiment is conducted by a group of five performers who adopt new names for the duration of the performance (High Speed, Coco, Lordi, Glow and Beauty). Moderated and guided by Marta Ziółek (as Angel Dust), the experiment is located somewhere in between a gym, a techno party and a corporate church of mindfulness. Make Yourself is a utopia which produces its own style, language and sexuality; a process of continuous transformation of identity which never assumes its final shape. A sort of trip which changes the body into a machine. Individual corporeal monologues interlace with a hybrid group training and trance practice comprising rave, kundalini yoga, latino flow and dance hall.
Make Yourself is a gang which ceaselessly constitutes and transforms itself to the music of Lutto Lento.
