Bollag Projektraum invites everyone interested to five-day open studio experience Maquette ? Perroquette curated by Kaya Kołodziejczyk and Pola Dwurnik. This event is designed as a final presentation of a six-months residency at Stiftung Laurenz-Haus in Basel. The project will be presented on January 22nd-26th at 5-9 pm. The artists invite to pass by, watch them working, talk to them, have a drink or, best of all, take part in one of their activities, listed below.

 

Program:

Monday, 22nd January ? 17.30

Physical introduction

The first event is constructed as an interdisciplinary set of exercises. You are invited to take active part in movement session – an insight into some of our previous work, presented or described by us.

 

Tuesday, 23rd January ? 19.00

One on one practice

Primary media day. We invite our guests individually to engage separately with choreography and/or drawing. Kaya will develop the individual choreographic intercourse and Pola by creating satirical, caricature-like portraits of individual guests will play A Drawing Parrot.

 

Wednesday, 24th January ? 18.00 ? main event

Choreographical drawing

Performance evening combining live drawing projected in real time while being created by Pola and choreographed by Kaya. After this performance the audience can take part in a talk on motion, life and art (in English/Polish).

 

Thursday, 25th January ? 18.00

Playground

Focus on the idea of space of the gallery, analyzing and understanding it as: Maquette / Playground / Cage / Zoo / Scene / Environment / Shelter. 

 

Friday, 26th January ? 18.30

Kids!

On the last day we invite you to come with your offspring. The whole space under our guidance will be re-discovered and re-interpreted by the young ones. We kindly ask you to bring second pair of soft shoes that are good for moving around (sneakers, sport shoes).   

 

Pola Dwurnik is a visual artist born in 1979 in Warsaw, working mainly with oil painting, various drawing media and collage, as well as text. Between 2004 and 2005 Dwurnik was an Artist-in-Residence at Stiftung Laurenz-Haus in Basel. In 2008 was nominated for Henkel Art Award 2008 for Contemporary Drawing in Vienna. In 2010 was an Artist-in-Residence of The Knot, a mobile platform for art in Berlin, Warsaw and Bucharest. Pola Dwurnik published four art books with drawings; among them: Living in Basel (2007, Christoph Merian Verlag), Gossip Column (2008, CCA Ujazdowski Castle), A Song for Wojtek (2016, Wrocław Contemporary Museum). In 2013 Dwurnik published Girl on Canvas an artbook about painting and its reception. Pola?s works are included in many public and private collections worldwide.

 

Kaya Kołodziejczyk is artist working both in Belgium and Poland in the field of choreography, performing arts and contemporary dance. She created several performances based on the cross-art ideas were experiments on human body, interactive animations, responding to sound and movement, somatic techniques, film images and music were creating expressive score. In her performing path Kaya was working with among others Maja Kleczewska, David Wampach, Mariusz Treliński and Rosas company of Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker. Next to her performing work she closely collaborates as movement director and choreographer with film director Agnieszka Smoczyńska (The Lure winner of Sundance Film Festival 2016). Kaya graduated from HfMDK Frankfurt am Main, P.A.R.T.S Brussels and National Ballet School in Warsaw.
