Centre of Dance Art in Warsaw: EKSPRESJE 3 [Expressions 3]: Izabela Chlewińska and the Warsaw Dance Theatre

From September to December 2016, the Mazovia Centre of Culture (ul. Elektoralna 12) is hosting the EKSPRESJE [EXPRESSIONS] program. The project includes a series of presentations, workshops, exhibitions and debates devoted to dance. EXPRESSIONS is a regular presentation and promotion of Warsaw-based artists active in dance ? both its household names and dancers and choreographers who have recently launched their careers. As part of the 3^rd installment of the program, on Thursday 20 October Izabela Chlewińska (Centre in Motion) will present her You have your voice (7 pm), while the Warsaw Dance Theatre will show Kolarz. Niepowtarzalne zderzenie z czasoprzestrzenią [Cyclist. A Unique Clash with Timespace] choreographed by Aleksandra Dziurosz (8:30 pm).

As part of this installment of the project, the organizers will also host dance workshops  (10 am ? 2:30 pm, three thematic blocks)  

You have your voice:

In the midst of electronic and acoustic receivers, reverbs, microphones and samplers, a potential citizen continues to speak on a matter of personal importance. To extract his voice, he assumes appropriate positions, conferring it with a suitable audible form. As time goes by, he begins to use not just his body but also the surrounding technology, arriving at increasingly bold effects.

Izabela Chlewińska?s latest piece, You have your voice, has resulted from several years of research on the extraction of voice from the body as a component of choreographic practice. It is a solo work for body, voice and space, a laboratory processing the quality of what we see and hear.

Kolarz [Cyclist]:

Kolarz is an interdisciplinary, multimedia stage event which combines contemporary dance, movement, acting, music and video screenings. The sound, text and video images in the piece are compatible and often created live as real time improvisations. The audience witnesses an interplay between all participants in the event, each of them acting according to a different map / blueprint.

EXPRESSIONS is a regular presentation and promotion of Warsaw-based artists active in dance ? both its household names and dancers and choreographers who have recently launched their careers.

The Centre for Dance Art in Warsaw is a pilot program intended to build a fixed venue for contemporary dance and related arts. The general vision of the project has been developed in the course of consultations and a consolidation of the dance community by the Social Dialogue Committee for Dance, and its implementation has been delegated to three organisations representing the Warsaw dance milieu: the ART_committed Foundation, the PERFORM Art Foundation, and the NEW WAVE Theatre Development Foundation.
