The Art and Present Time Foundation and the Centre for Contemporary Art ? Ujazdowski Castle are delighted to invite everyone to the presentations of INTRO by the (National) Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre, which will take place on Tuesday, 8 November as part of the 23rd International Meeting of Live Arts CROSSROADS. The presentations will begin at 6 pm and 8:30 pm, respectively. The second presentation will be followed by a meeting with the artists.
About the piece:
A hundred years removed from the first Dadaist manifestos, the company led by Leszek Bzdyl created a grotesque piece INTRO to the music of the post-punk band Nagrobki.The piece is a grotesque kaleidoscope filled with contemporary Polish phobias. In INTRO, the Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre is shouting out both mockingly and desperately, ?Dada is Polska!!!?
?Pervaded by an all-desacrating black humour which does not spare anything from ridicule, INTRO resonates stronger than any scholarly discussions, no matter how filled with reasonable arguments. A tangle of red and white symbols, sharp sounds of vuvuzelas, explosives, green-legged partridges, and demonic Muslim women tells us to find a distance lost in the present reality. It is also a provocation for provocation?s own sake, in the grain of the uninhibited Dadaist imagination. Because INTRO is above all a challenge to our myths.?

Dada von Bzdűlöw Theatre is one of the most appreciated Polish independent companies. It gathers dancers and actors working on the fringe of theatre, contemporary dance and art performance. Dada von Bzdűlöwwas founded in 1993 in Gdańsk, by dancers and choreographers Leszek Bzdyl and Katarzyna Chmielewska. For the 100th anniversary of the emanation of the Dada movement, the group will show a grotesque play Intro with music composed by postpunk band Nagrobki (Maciej Salamon and Adam Witkowski).
Tickets for Hotel Modern theatre and Dada von Bzdülöw Theatre performances will be available at the CCA/Ujazdowski Castle (ul. Jazdów 2).

The second showing of the performance will be followed by meeting with artists in the CCA ? Ujazdowski Castle.

The interdisciplinary festival International Meeting of Live Arts. CROSSROADS (organised every year since 1994) presents valuable, innovative performances at the crossroads between theatre, dance and visual arts. During the 23rd edition of the CROSSROADS Festival, artists from Netherlands and Poland will present performances at the crossroads between modern dance and theatre, as well as shows combining live theatrical animation and film.
