On 8-9 November the Polish Dance Theatre is premiering Architektura światła [The Architecture of Light] in Poznań (Intrenational Poznań Fair, MP2, ul. Głogowska 14). The piece, described by its creators as “a journey into the land of mysticism and ritual”, is inspired by some common notions shared by different religions and certain concepts of quantum physics, such as the “God particle”, or Higgs boson. Paulina Wyciechowska’s choreography is an outcome of a creative dialogue with composer PRASQUAL, who divided the piece’s score into eight Rites played by the Orchestra of the Academy of Music in Poznań. They are: the Rite of Darkness, of Passage, of Love, of Blood and Soil, of Light, of Game – Birth, of Life and Death, of Eternity and of Mystical Unity. All of the Rites are commented upon by electronic music and soloists – soprano Chelsey Schill and trumpeter Nathan Plante. Costumes and props were designed by Paulina Plizga and the lighting directed by Katarzyna Łuszczyk. On stage the audience is going to see nine artists of the Polish Dance Theatre, who have also been actively involved in the piece’s creation: Karina Adamczak-Kasprzak, Urszula Bernat-Jałocha, Agnieszka Fertała, Kornelia Lech, Andrzej Adamczak, Artur Bieńkowski, Paweł Malicki, Daniel Stryjecki and Guillermo Millan Merida.
