On Saturday, 21 January 2017 (8 pm), the CK ZAMEK Culture Centre in Poznań (ul. Św. Marcin 80/82) will host the premiere presentation of the Polish Dance Theatre?s Harvest directed by Igor Gorzkowski and choreographed by Iwona Pasińska. The piece is the Polish Dance Theatre?s first project since Pasińska took over as its director. The premiere marks the inauguration of the company?s new artistic programme for 2017, known as “Rok Guślarzy” (The Year of Sorcerers).

Recitative: Stanisław Wyspiański: The Return of Odysseus, act III
Harvest refers to the rituals accompanying harvest and the cycle of husbandry, nature and human life, conceptualised enthnographically (inspired, among others, by Oskar Kolberg?s studies and Zofia Kossak?s Polish Year), as well as anthropologically and philosophically. The narrative axis of the show will be delineated by the trope of the return of Odysseus, based on Homer?s classic epic and Stanisław Wyspiański?s The Return of Odysseus.
The performers ? dancers of the Polish Dance Theatre, and an actor ? will portray the protagonists exploring various variations of kinetic and verbal events. The physical and psychological intensity of their actions is accompanied by the ascetic visuals. The incidental music was inspired by the compositions of Eugeniusz Rudnik, a pioneer of Polish electronic music.
The music and vocal parts, based on traditional Polish music themes, has been contributed and performed by Adam Strug.
