On Friday 2 February (7 pm), the Art Stations Foundation will host the premiere performance of Janusz Orlik?s latest piece, Mute. The premiere will be held as part of the Old Brewery/New Dance programme.
About the performance:
a state of constant fear, uncertainty, threat, needs and exclusion … surrounded by events we are trying to make sense of, and by people we are no longer able to communicate with … exhausted by being physically, emotionally and mentally provoked … a world in which actions speak louder than words and words are no longer heard … where we are not willing to see and are afraid to look.
Five years after the premiere of Insight, awarded with for the best choreography at the Polish Dance Platform 2014, Janusz Orlik returns with another solo work soundtracked by a multi-talented Romanian composer and multi-instrumentalist Alex Catona. In his latest piece, Orlik poses the following question: What is our part in the destruction of our relationships with each other?

Janusz Orlik
Upon his graduation from the Warsaw Ballet School, Janusz Orlik studied at Brucknerkonservatorium Linz (Austria). During his studies he became a founding member of x.IDA Dance Co. and performed in productions created by Olga Cobos, Peter Mika, Catherine Guérin, Rebekka Murgi, Nicole Caccivio, Charlotte Vincent. Since 2002 Janusz has been a regular member of the Vincent Dance Theatre (GB). Simultaneously, Janusz creates his own choreographic works, including Exér?se monobloc (2004), and thy neighbour as thyself (2006), Live on stage (2008), The Rite of Spring (2011), and Insight (2013) which was awarded a Special Prize of The Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland for Janusz Orlik and Joanna Leśnierowska for choreography granted as part of the Polish Dance Platform 2014. In 2007 he performed in nothing by towarzystwo gimnastyczne and in 2009 in Happy by Nigel Charnock, in which he was also involved as choreographer’s assistant. In 2010 he joined Kwaad Bloed Company (BE) performing in Forces. In 2011 he joined Nigel Charnock + Company (GB) to create his new work Ten Men. That same year he collaborated and performed in Reconstruction by Joanna Leśnierowska, while in 2012 he worked with Gary Clarke (GB) in the revival of Horsemeat. In 2013 he began a collaboration with Daniel Landau (IL). In 2014 he performed in ? (Rooms by the sea) from the series Exercises in Looking by Joanna Leśnierowska, as well as in Unintended Consequences by Sjoerd Vreugdenhil, Back to bone by Rosalind Crisp and Collective Jumps by Isabelle Schad. In 2015 he performed in an excerpt from Shirtology by Jérôme Bel. In 2016 he worked as a movement director in Ojczyzna [Fatherland] at the Polish Theatre in Poznań, collaborated and performed in the Polish-Brazilian production Yanka Rudzka Project: Leavining. His other works include High heels, developed for the ballet ensemble of the Opera House in Kraków; Alpha, developed for the Contemporary Dance Scene in Poznań, and Adagio for the Musical Theatre in Poznań. Apart from performing Janusz holdsdance workshops in various venues and dance schools in Poland and abroad. He is a recipient of the Scholarship of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland in 2011.
