We are delighted to inform you that Martyna Lorenc and Rafał Pierzyński have been selected as residents of SOLO PROJEKT PLUS 2019, a programme for choreographers organised in cooperation with Stary Browar Nowy Taniec/Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk in Poznań. Both artists will be taken care of by Dalija Aćin Thelander, a performance artist and choreographer from Serbia. Congratulations!

 

About the selected artists-in-residence:

 

Martyna Lorenc is a performance artist. She has completed cognitive science studies at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Poland and contemporary dance and pedagogy at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz, Austria. She has been a long-time collaborator of C.O.V. Company Off Verticality/Rose Breuss and Editta Braun Company and has worked with such choreographers as Alexander Gottfarb, Rosalind Crisp, Alexandra Waierstall, Georg Blaschke and David Zambrano. Simultaneously, Martyna has been creating her own choreographies (e.g. Garden of desires) and experimental formats (e.g. club sessions and improvised performances). She has also been involved in cross-disciplinary projects connected with science, e.g. cognitive science, and movement practices. Since 2018, she has been a member of the Lab On Stage art collective.

 

Rafał Pierzyński creates queer performances, collages, pictures, texts and songs. Together with Aga Pędziwiatr, he co-creates the DIVAS project. Pierzyński has completed Stage Dance and Movement Studies and Performance at the Institute of Dance Arts (IDA) of the Anton Bruckner University in Linz. He graduated with an MA diploma after conducting practical research and writing a thesis titled “Embodied Communication – attending to the modes of touch”. The theme of touching is essential to his research and the successive projects he has undertaken. He has shared his experience and considerable practice at the SDC residencies in Madrid and Casablanca, the S.T.R.E.T.C.H. Festival in Berlin, the University in Linz and Esther Eppstein?s Message Salon Embassy in Zurich, where he also released his zine called ‘Touching’. Pierzyński has cooperated as a performance artist with C.O. V. Cie. Off Verticality/Rose Breuss, Virgilio Sieni Company, Daniel Hellmann, Elena Giannotti, Alex Baczyński-Jenkins, Anna Nowak and Ewa Dziarnowska.

 

Artist-caretaker:

 

Dalija Aćin Thelander works in performance arts as a choreographer, a theatre creator and an organiser of cultural events. Her works have been shown during a host of international festivals, such as ImPulsTanz, Tanz im August, Les Particules, Perforations or BITEF. In 2008, she received the first ever Prix Jardin d?Europe for her Handle with great care, performed during the 8:tension programme of the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna. For the last few years, she has been involved in an intensive research of contemporary dance for children and babies, being one of the foremost representatives of this artistic trend in Europe. Her children?s shows have received multiple awards and have been performed in Europe and Asia (Japan, Korea, China, India). In Poland, the audiences, including the children, could admire and experience her Baby Space, intended for the youngest spectators, and a work she co-created with Keren Levi, Up Side Down ? both produced by Art Stations Foundation. Dalija has also conducted choreography classes for children intended for Polish artists and provided artistic consulting for Dookoła by Hanka Kanecka and Aleksandra Bożek-Muszyńska. She has co-founded and coordinated the Station Service for Contemporary Dance in Belgrade and co-founded the Nomad Dance Academy, where she curated and produced a number of programmes and productions. She has also co-created and co-curated the Performance Arts Festival Kondenz in Belgrade. Dalija has worked with numerous theatre directors and has won a host of prizes for her drama theatre choreographies. Since 2012, she has lived in Stockholm, working as a freelance artist. In 2015, she was the artistic caretaker for the Solo Projekt Plus programme, where she was involved in the production of solo performances: TOTAL by Paweł Sakowicz and PARTYTURA by Agnieszka Kryst.
