We are pleased to announce the residents of the SOLO PROJECT PLUS 2018 choreography programme by the Old Brewery New Dance / Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk in Poznań. This year?s edition of the programme will feature pieces by Ewa Dziarnowska, Wojciech Grudziński, and Karolina Kraczkowska, as well as Krystyna Lama Szydłowska, who had qualified for the 2017 edition but was unable to participate in the residency. The artistic coaching for the residents will be provided by Peter Pleyer. The pieces developed in the course of the residencies will premiere in the first half of May 2018.

About the winners-residents:

 

Ewa Dziarnowska (born in 1991) is a  graduate of Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance 2010 – 2014 and BA “Dance, Context, Choreography” at HZT Berlin 2014 – 2017, and a recipient of the danceWEB scholarship (2015), Tanzquartier Vienna scholarship (2014 ? 2015), and Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes scholarship (since 2016). Ewa?s own works include: form that accomodates mess (2017), carte rouge (2016), SALON (with Ivan Ekemark, 2016), ‘all dogs must be muzzled? (with Patrik Kelemen, 2015), ‘immediate sketch? (2014). Ewa has worked as a performer for Simone Forti (‘Dance Constructions?, 2014), Michikazu Matsune (‘Picnic with Old Masters 2013), Doris Uhlich (‘more than naked? 2014; ?Boom Bodies?, 2016), Tino Sehgal (‘Kiss 2015), M?rten Sp?ngberg ( (‘The Planet: First Location?, 2015), Julian Weber (‘All inclusive? 2016), Alistair Watts (‘L Dance, 2017), Lyllie Rouviere (‘Un peu de romantisme, 2017).

 

 

Wojciech Grudziński graduated from the Roman Turczynowicz Ballet School in Warsaw and the contemporary dance department CODARTS ? Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands. He is a recipient of a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Over the course of his dance education, he took part in performances choreographed by, among others, Itamar Serussi, Hans van Manen, Ed Wubbe, and Jiříi Kylián. He participated in projects with Jens van Daele, David Bolger, Marta Ziółek, Magdalena Przybysz, Ula Sickle. He was one of the artists taking part in the Warsaw version of Jérôme Bel’s ‘Gala? performance, which premiered at Nowy Teatr as part of the Body/Mind Festival. At the same time, he develops his own choreographic practice. He cooperated with La Cambre/ Ecole nationale supérieure des arts visuels academy in Brussels. In the years 2016-2017, he created two solo performances ‘SLAVE4YOU dlaciebiedlarodziny? and ‘PAX?.

 

Karolina Kraczkowska is a Polish dancer and maker, graduate of Applied Linguistics at Warsaw University and Dance Performance, postgraduate programme at Laban, and a member of the Polish Dance Theatre in the years 2004-2007.
She has collaborated on projects choreographed by Jasmin Vardimon, Fin Walker, Michael Keegan-Dolan, Kirstine Kyhl Andersen, sally Marie Christoph Winkler, Ricardo Buscarini, Leila McMillan, Janina Rajakangas, Ben Riepe, M?rten Sp?ngberg (, and Tino Sehgal. She currently collaborates with Polish experimental choreographers and directors, including Magdalena Ptasznik, Alex Baczyński-Jenkins, Renata Piotrowska-Auffret, Ramona Nagabczyńska, Maria Stokłosa and Anna Karasińska. She completed a short course in choreography organized by Centre in Motion in Warsaw. A recipient of the danceWEB scholarship programme in 2016 under the mentorship of Tino Sehgal and Louise Hojer, she was also a resident in Chez Bushwick in Brooklyn (2016), presenting her frist solo at the Centre for Performance Research. In 2017 she prepared an installation/ performance within the frame of Better Self exhibition in Zachęta. She is a member of the Warsaw-based Centre in Motion collective. She pursues her artistic interests through explorations of dance, choreopgrahy, and movement practices.In her choreographic investigations she focuses on the body and self as a work in progress which has the capacity to undergo a series of transformations and becomings.

 

Krystyna Lama Szydłowska is a graduate of the Poznań School of Social Sciences (Faculty of Arts, major: dance) and a recipient of a scholarship from the Alternative Dance Academy 2015 affiliated by the Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk. She currently studies choreography at the Academy of Music in Łódź (MFA studies). Her collaborations include Isabelle Schad (Collective Jumps), Dalija Aćin Thelander and Keren Levi (Up Side down), Jan Komasa and Mikołaj Mikołajczyk (Xenophony: A Symphony for the Other), Marta Górnicka (Hymn do miłości), and Janusz Orlik, Witold Jurewicz, Fuzja Theatre and many others. Since 2009, she has held dance classes and workshops for children, youth, adult and senior dancers. She is actively engaged in a number of voluntary activities.  Krystyna Lama Szydłowska has participated in dance workshops and coaching projects, amongothers with Wim Vandekeybus, Rosalind Crisp, Peter Pleyer, Colleen Thomas Young, Rebecca Lazier, Jared Gradinger, Angela Schubot). She also creates her own choreographies (How to growRytm przestrzeni [Spatial Rhythm], Pamiętniki z wakacji [Vacation Diaries], Pogłos [Reverb]). She works at the crossroads (Długi stół ? posiłek performatywny [Long Table ? Performative Meal] in collaboration with Dawid Dąbrowski). Together with Zofia Tomczyk, she established the KINESTREFA Foundation to jointly create, learn and share their knowledge with others (Banalnie łatwy tri? and Syrenada). Her She has always lived and worked in Poznań, where she has co-created Miejsce Kultury ? Centrum Amarant since 2015. She explores movement for infinity, but most of all for its authenticity.

 

About the artistic coach:

Peter Pleyer studied dance at the European Dance Development Centre (EDDC) / Art Academy Arnhem, NL. He worked as a dancer and choreographic assistant with Yoshiko Chuma (New York) and Mark Tompkins (Paris). Since his studies a long-time collaborator with Ezster Gal (Budapest). In 2000 Peter moved to Berlin, where he has lived and worked since, conducting practical and theoretical studies on dance. He is frequently invited to supervise and coach performance projects around the world, with a special focus on improvisation. He has helped to create dance education projects for contemporary choreography in Berlin and served as the artistic director of Tanztage Berlin (2007-14), while also serving on the programme board at Berlin?s Sophiensaele. He has guest-performed in a number of pieces, among others by Keith Hennessy and Antonia Livingstone. His latest projects include Visible Undercurrent (2015), the Ponderosa Trilogy solo (2015) and Cranky Bodies Dance Reset (2017). Peter has numerously performed and taught in Poland, collaborating with Marysia Stokłosa and acting as the artistic coach with the Solo Projekt programme (2010), while also developing his piece moving the mirror (2016) featuring Polish and Berlin-based performers.
