Agnieszka Kryst and Paweł Sakowicz have been named as residents of SOLO PROJEKT PLUS 2015, the programme for choreographers run by Old Brewery New Dance/Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk in Poznań. Their artistic coach during the residencies will be Serbian choreographer Dalija Aćin Thelander. The two choreographers-in-residence will be returning to Poznań throughout the year to work on their new pieces, set to premiere in December 2015.
About the residents:
Agnieszka Kryst graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw with a diploma in choreography and dance theory. In 2013 she received a scholarship from the Alternative Dance Academy, Old Brewery New Dance, Poznań, Poland. As dancer and performer she has collaborated with Karolina Kroczak, Tomas Nepsinski, Juan Dom?nguez Rojo, Małgorzata Haduch, and lately with Sjoerd Vreugdenhil on Unintended consequences, which premiered during the festival Old Brewery New Dance at Malta 2014. She was a finalist of the choreographic competition New Europe Festival 2013 in Prague, the Czech Republic, where she showcased her solo Pressure and duo Liquid state of mind. She has taken part in Friv Move, an improvisation lab for dancers and musicians, at the Zamek Culture Centre in Poznań. She has taken part in several workshops in Poland and abroad (including courses held as part of the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna). She studied with Maria F. Scaroni, Sjoerd Vreugdenhil, Rosalind Crisp, Laura Aris Alvarez, Peter Jasko, Benoît Lachambre, Keith Hennessy, and David Zambrano.
Paweł Sakowicz is an independent dancer and choreographer. He graduated from the University of Warsaw with a degree in political studies and holds an MA in performance and choreography from the London Contemporary Dance School. He has collaborated with Sasha Roubicek, Jeannie Steele, Paolo Mangiola, Ramona Nagabczyńska, Sjoerd Vreugdenhil, Mikołaj Mikołajczyk, Marta Ziółek, and Isabelle Schad. He performed Merce Cunningham?s choreographies as part of the exhibition
The Bride and the Bachelors at the Barbican.
For a few years now he has been working with artists and curators in London, Warsaw, and Berlin. His has devised the following solos: Duet (2012), Bajki muzyczne (2013), and Bernhard (2014). Paweł?s artistic development was supported by a scholarship awarded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, a residency programme run by the Institute of Music and Dance in Warsaw, and by the Alternative Dance Academy of the Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk. What interests him most in choreography is the role of the audience in performance and improvisation. His MA research was devoted to the ways a performer may challenge the traditional position of the viewer as a passive observer.

Dalija Aćin Thelander is a performance art artist, choreographer, and culture promoter. Her pieces have been shown at international events such as ImPulsTanz, Tanz im August, Les Particules, Perforations, and BITEF. In 2008 she was awarded the first ever Prix Jardin d?Europe for Handle with great care, which was shown as part of the programme 8:tension at the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna. She strives to enrich the concept of choreography as an extended exercise and focuses on audience participation, which we have had a taste of at the Malta Festival 2013.
Five years ago Dalija became interested in studying contemporary dance for children and toddlers. Her award-winning children’s shows have been presented in Europe and Asia (Japan, Korea). Her multimedia installation Baby Space was shown at the Old Brewery in 2013.
Dalija has co-founded and now coordinates the operations of Station, Service for Contemporary Dance in Belgrade. She has also co-founded the Nomad Dance Academy, as part of which she curates and produces numerous programmes and productions. She has co-founded and co-curates the festival of performative art Kondenz in Belgrade. She has collaborated with a number of theatre directors and won several awards for theatre choreography. Since 2012 she has been living in Stockholm, where she works as an independent artist.
