To mark 10 years of Old Brewery New Dance, the 2014 Malta Festival will host the Solo Project Camp,  the first ever reunion ? at one time and space ? of all artists of the SOLO PROJECT ? the flagship residency programme of the Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk. Established in 2006, it was the first programme of this kind for young choreographers in Poland, and it succeeded to change the guard in Polish dance introducing to the scene the whole new generation of artists that a critic Witold Mrozek dubbed (after the project?s name) the ? SOLO GENERATION?. And just this year also Anna Królica made it a collective hero of  her book published under the same title.

Young choreographers will annex 2 levels of Old Brewery?s Słodownia building for 6 days (23?28 June) and turn it into the space of intense meetings and interactions (on the +2 level) as well as a performance installation (on the +1 level). SOLO PROJECT CAMP mirrors the diversity  of  the young Polish artists? choreographic personalities and ideas, also inviting the audience to special anniversary performative games and interventions spread over the whole Old Brewery complex. The Camp also offers a special treat with open morning classes within which artists will introduce the audience and each other to their practice, providing an opportunity to reflect on individual approaches towards choreography. Reflection will also be provoked and supported theoretically by German choreographer and philosopher Petra Sabisch, who will run her coaching session titled ?Forum Extended Choreography: Contemporary Practices? throughout the week. Introducing the artists to  her analytic tools, she will help them to create frames for their explorations of choreographic practices, allowing them (and the audience participating in the final, public panel discussion) to look at them from a critical distance.

Solo Project?s residents will also take part in two performance meetings:

Free the Dance on 25 June at 6pm (Pasaż Szachownica) and Blind Improvisation on 27 June at 6pm (Dziedziniec Sztuki), while on 23 June at 4pm a panel discussion titled Co z tym tańcem?[So What About Polish Dance?] combined with a promotional event of Anna Królica?s book will take place gathering the author and Solo Project?s residents (Generator Malta, Plac Wolności, discussion moderator: Joanna Leśnierowska).

Project coordinators:  Barbara Gwóźdź, Agata Siniarska (Solo Project 2013)/ Magdalena Ptasznik (Solo Project 2012); technical realisation: Kacper Czyczyło.
