The two-week artistic residency of Artur Bieńkowski in Luxemburg will be summed-up with the work-in-progress presentation of the choreographic project entitled Zugwang. The presentation will take place on the 3 November in TROIS C-L Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois. As the artist notes, Zugwang is an experiment that investigates new types of relations between an abstract form and movement ? where the movement is in itself the main need and the final goal. Zugwang will feature Victoria Kennett and Alexey Torgunakov (dance and creation). The work-in-progress presentation is planned also for the Polish audience and it will take place on 16 November in ROZBARK Theatre (start at 6 p.m.).

The artistic residency of Artur Bieńkowski in Luxemburg is part of the exchange residency programme PROJECT 2/3 organised by the Institute of Music and Dance in co-operation with the TROIS C-L ? Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois.

About Zugwang:

Zugwang is an experiment that investigates new types of relations between an abstract form and movement ? where the movement is in itself the main need and the final goal. The performers, by developing their own space scores create independent worlds. By doing so, they bring to life an environment-in-motion composed of micro-choreographies. At the same time, the performers pay a lot of attention to what is happening between them in the process ? the world they manage to create, the already existing world, and the world that has already vanished but still determines certain choices. The materialised idea and its resonance in the audience create a choreography of the viewer?s attention, without forcing any meanings or references. It is a self-sufficient being. The creative process leaves a trace in the form of the blurred boundary between thinking, action, creation and form. By neutralising the separateness of the body, action, thought and creation, the choreographer follows the morphing matter and its influence on the viewer?s perception, aiming, at the same time, at liberating choreography from the obligation to present and represent anything particular.

The artistic exchange residency project PROJECT 2/3 organised by the Institute of Music and Dance and the TROIS C-L Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois provides the artists with the following:

– exchange of experience and knowledge about contemporary dance in Poland and Luxemburg;

– artistic exchange with local artists and dialogue with the local audience;

– enabling the dancers and choreographers to enter self-reflection and look at one?s own choreographic practices and creative methods within the framework of intercultural artistic exchange.
