Dr. Paulina Wycichowska was born in 1976 in Cracow, Poland.
She is currently the Head of the Department of Dance and assistant professor at the Eugeniusz Piasecki Academy of Physical Education in Poznań, a choreographer, academic lecturer, dance educator and dancer, art therapist, Pilates Core trainer, creator of an auteur method of building body and movement awareness I Mind The Step.
A graduate of the Olga Sławska-Lipczyńska Ballet School in Poznań and the London Contemporary Dance School (University of Kent), where she studied contemporary dance in performance, pedagogy and choreography, Paulina is also a graduate of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (church music), the Michał Iwaszkiewicz University of Social Sciences in Poznań (journalism and social communication) and the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznań (art therapy). She earned a doctorate in musical arts with distinction from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. She is a member of the Polish Actors Association (ZASP) and the Polish Choreological Forum. Having spent seventeen years with the Polish Dance Theater as a soloist and choreographer, she now works an independent artist. A choreographer for over twenty-five years, she has developed her pieces in Poland, Great Britain and Germany.
Wycichowska teaches dance in physical culture at the Eugeniusz Piasecki Academy of Physical Education in Poznań, contemporary dance and choreography and dance theory at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, somatics in dance and therapy in dance at the Academy of Music in Łódź and Postgraduate Art Therapy Studies at the University of Medical Sciences in Poznań. She also teaches original creative dance classes based on Rudolf Laban’s theory of movement. A trainer of the Pilates Core method, focusing on deep spinal stabilization, she has worked for over twenty-five years with many centers in Poland, implementing workshops in contemporary dance, modern techniques, composition, body therapy and choreology at all levels.
She is interested in a holistic and interdisciplinary approach to the human being, teaching and learning processes, and the practice and dissemination of art. She also conducts mindfulness and creativity trainings in art therapy and development workshops. In her various activities, she shares her belief in the transformative power of dance as a field of art, science, therapy and communication.
As a hobby, she dances Argentine tango, tries her hand at rock climbing, and sometimes trains traditional archery. She loves black coffee and cats.
