Barbara Sier-Janik – teacher, dancer. Vice-president of Dance and Ballet Section of the Polish Stage Artist Association (ZASP) and vice-chairman of the Dance Programme Board of the Institute of Music and Dance.

She graduated from the State Ballet School in Warsaw in 1966. In 1966–1986 she was a dancer and first soloist of the Teatr Wielki’s ballet in Warsaw. In 1983 she graduated in pedagogy from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In 1008 she earned her PhD in theatre arts at the State School of Drama (PWST) in Cracow. Since 2007 she has lectured classical dance at the Department of Dance Theatre of PWST, created in collaboration with the Silesian Dance Theatre. In 1986–1997 she was a teacher of classical ballet at the State School Ballet in Warsaw, and 1984–2001 – a lecturer of classical and modern dance at the University of Music in Warsaw. She is the author of the book Post modern dance: Zarys problematyki – twórcy i techniki („Post modern dance: profile – artists and techniques), published in 1995 by the Centre for Art Education CEA in Warsaw, and of the report on professional dance education for the First Dance Congress in Warsaw (2011).

In 2000 she was listed among Experts in Education of the Ministry of National Education and Sport in the field of classical and contemporary dance. In May 2011, on the International Dance Day, she received a special award from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
