On Saturday, 28 September at 7 pm, ms2 (Museum of Art, ul. Ogrodowa 9) will host the premiere of David Zambrano’s new piece prepared in Łódź. Soul Project/PLis a series of virtuoso solo improvisations, each lasting as long as the song to which it is set. The sequence in which the solos are performed and the place where they are performed is always up to improvisation, which makes the piece’s every showcase a unique event. This is the first time Zambrano has worked with Polish dancers. Initiated by Pracownia Fizyczna in Łódź, the collaboration has produced a new version of the improvised piece. David Zambrano has been be assisted in the course of the piece’s production by Peter Jasko of Les SlovaKs Dance Collective.Soul Projectwas born in 2006 as a result of Zambrano’s collaboration with a group of seven talented dancers from Mozambique, Slovenia, Greece, Slovakia, USA and Venezuela. The piece may be performed in the open air, a gallery, gym, ballroom, church or a large stage.

Soul Project/PLis one of few improvisation frameworks which make it possible to use a museum’s exhibition space in an unconventional manner to get visitors involved in improvisation. The audience may watch the performances from any perspective they choose: standing close by or far away. The experience suddenly becomes intimate and personal – you can feel the trembling of the dancers’ bodies – and communal at the same time, as together with the rest of the viewers you may take wild guesses on who dances next and to what song.

Admission free. No booking necessary.
