Awaiting the lawn

Waiting for rain, waiting for grass, for the breeze which will transpose my life to a place called everydayness. I come and watch the pride of my heart growing every single day. MY GRASS How to share one rain between three grasses? How does one attempt, how does one try to attain their goal? Satisfaction in times of unemployment guaranteed. Integration between the old architecture and its new dimension contemporarily adjacent to concrete incomprehension and an enthralled song of a dove buried in my garden, on my grass. Nowhere I hurry, in time I linger, with time I do not run. Generally, we do not run together. I am standing and waiting right here. No fireworks, no sudden changes. Overall, tediousness.

Infanta according to Kantor

About the performance:

Infanta according to Velazquez. How many of them have been in my life! I have discovered the ?dummies of Death? in them. The phantoms emerging from the heartless, dull emptiness of the canvas. Tadeusz Kantor

Choreography includes and transposes the language of flamenco, court and oriental dances. The selected actions have been inspired by the artistic expressions characteristic of Kantor?s theatre. Małgorzata Matuszewska transposes elements of particular forms of dance in such a way that, as abstract artistic expressions, they best render the nature of Infanta?s particular illuminations. The Infanta that evolved over time ? including T. Kantor?s intrinsic time ? without losing its nature originated by Velazquez.

Animated pictures ? the characters of Infantas, expressed mainly by dance ? engage in a dialogue with the ?poor room of imagination? that lives its own life ? a scene abandoned forever by Kantor in 1990. The presence of the Narrator connects both spaces of illusion and refers to both the statement of Tadeusz Kantor and artistic expressions characteristic for the Cricot 2 Theatre. In the animated (or eternally alive) Room of Imagination, sated with the sounds of creaking floors, doors; exposed to unexpected gales and storms; flaring up with a ductile play of light, the Infantas resurge ? the one of Velazquez?s and the one of Kantor?s. The Narrator, who squares off with the dialogue/fight with these forces, losing the thread in the midst of the thunderstorm, fails… the only thing he can do is to end the performance by saying ?Goodnight ladies and gentlemen.?

From September to December 2016, the Mazovia Centre for Culture and Art will host the Centre for Dance Art?s program EKSPRESJE [EXPRESSIONS]. The project will feature dance performances, workshops, exhibitions and debates. EXPRESSIONS is a regular presentation and promotion of Warsaw-based artists active in dance ? both its household names and dancers and choreographers who have recently launched their careers.

The Centre for Dance Art in Warsaw is a pilot program intended to build a fixed venue for contemporary dance and related arts. The general vision of the project has been developed in the course of consultations and a consolidation of the dance community by the Social Dialogue Committee for Dance, and its implementation has been delegated to three organisations representing the Warsaw dance milieu: the ART_committed Foundation, the PERFORM Art Foundation, and the NEW WAVE Theatre Development Foundation.

Project Partner: Mazovia Centre for Culture and Art.

EXPRESSIONS is organised by the Centre for Dance Art in Warsaw, an association of NGO dance organizations.

Financed by the Capital City of Warsaw.
