Dancing Poznań 2016 ? an annual celebration of dance organized by the Polish Dance Theatre, held on 20-27 August 2016 ? features two events: the 23rd International Contemporary Dance Workshops and the 13th International Dance Theatre Festival. This year?s edition of the International Dance Theatre Festival will include presentations of latest performances by fourteen choreographers. Dancing Poznań will see the Polish Dance Theatre present its pieces, including choreographies by Urszula Bernat-Jałocha (Percepcja) [Perception], Ewa Wycichowska (LAMENT. Pamięci Tadeusza Różewicza) [Lament. In memory of Tadeusz Różewicz], Andrzej Adamczak (Touch me) and Paweł Malicki (Kroniki czasu przyszłego) [Chronicles of the Future]. The program of the 13th International Dance Theatre Festival also features pieces by visiting artists and companies from Poland and abroad. This year, the Polish Dance Theatre has invited such ensembles as the Kielce Dance Theatre (Stymulacja ciała [Stimulation of the Body], choreographed by Elżbieta Pańtak, Grzegorz Pańtak; Sen Jakuba [Jacob?s Dream], choreographed by Grzegorz Pańtak; Łk 10.29 [Luke 10.29], choreographed by Robert Bondara; Poza horyzont [Beyond the Horizon], choreographed by Jacek Przybyłowicz), the Sopot Dance Theatre (Wszystko co widać. OHIO [Ohio All Seen], choreographed by Joanna Czajkowska, Jacek Krawczyk), Witamina T dance group of Bytom (SPEED DATES show), Iwona Olszowska and Anna Haracz (Przenikanie) [Permeation], and Tchekpo Dance Company (Germany), whose latest piece will premiere at the Festival. The events will be staged at two venues: Sala Wielka (ZAMEK Culture Centre), and Scena Wspólna (Łejery Association).

The Festival will be accompanied by the 22rd International Contemporary Dance Workshops, held on 20-27 August by 26 pedagogues from around the world, who will be teaching classes in 37 dance techniques. The workshops will be inaugurated by the dance and music performance Usłyszeć taniec [Hear the dance].

 ***

You?re not all that deprived of free will,

And even if you were just like a field stone,

The avalanche will change its course

In relation to the sort of stones it courses over.

 (Czesław Miłosz)

The current shape of the Workshops is 23-years-long joint work in progress. On the one hand, it is Us: the organizers and pedagogues, on the other, You, the participants. The permeation of our drives, desires, goals and capacities is a force which transcends all hardships and yields the expected effect in the form of Dancing Poznań. Held each August, this joint, communal dancing event pervaded by positive energy rolls like a ball which changes us and the world.

I hope you will enjoy a plethora of major discoveries and meetings, learn more about others and yourselves, fulfill your dreams and open new paths in the field of dance.
