The Solo Dance Contest 2018, held as part of the 10th Gdańsk Dance Festival, attracted 173 entries from 37 countries from around the world. The competition will take place on June 11-15, in Klub Żak. The invited artists will perform their solos for four days, and on the fifth day the finalists chosen by the international Jury will show their works again. In addition to the Jurors, the audience will also award their prize. The prize pool of this year?s edition amounts to EUR 6,000. The Solo Dance Contest is a broadly defined contemporary dance / contemporary ballet competition addressed to dance artists and striving to support and promote contemporary dance.

 

For the 2018 edition, Klub Żak has decided to invite the following artists:

The organisers are currently waiting for confirmations  from the participants ? the final schedule of the competition will be released in mid-May.

 

Klub Żak has invited artists and experts of contemporary dance to sit on the jury of Solo Dance Contest 2018: Bojana Cvejić (Serbia/Belgium) master of philosophy, prolific writer (including Drumming & Rain: A Choreographer?s Score, co-authored with Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker); Palle Granh?j (Denmark) dancer and choreographer, originator of obstruction technique; Anastasio Koukoutas (Greece) writer, lecturer of dance history and assistant director; Inbal Pinto (Israel) award-winning choreographer, scenographer and former dancer of Batsheva; Ewa Wycichowska (Poland) head of the Dance Department at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and former director of Polish Dance Theatr
