On Friday, 2 February 2018 (6 pm, Plac Moniuszki 2B, Kielce), the Kielce Dance Theatre will premiere its three-part piece From Behind My Eyes, choreographed by Karolina Garbacik, Izabela Zawadzka and Małgorzata Ziółkowska. The piece is comprised of three different stories presenting different takes on reality and different ways of interpretation of human relations.

Part One: Giselle Act I choreographed by Izabela Zawadzka

An auteur interpretation of the Romantic ballet autorska Giselle, which recounts the story of an unfortunate love set in present-day world. Giselle?s love is informed by a sense of being misunderstood, a manifestation of seclusion from the world, and a concealment of who we are and what we are. It also entails tremendous emotional strain that may drive one into madness.

Part Three: Carme(n)love choreographed by Małgorzata Ziółkowska

The piece is an auteur take on Georges Bizet?s opera Carmen. The choreographer inquires into Carmen?s tragic death. Perhaps she was unable to relate to the surrounding reality. Perhaps the love she so craved failed to satiate her soul. Perhaps best described by Charles Baudelaire in Les Fleurs du mal as a demon, a victim of reality, an exquisite mind, a searcher of infinity, an entity filled with screams and tears, Carmen continues to dwell in each of us, perhaps waiting to be born again.
