As part of The Year of Gods 2018, the Polish Dance Theatre will present the premiere of Polka directed by Igor Gorzkowski and choreographed by Iwona Pasińska and company dancers (Saturday, 3 February, 8 pm, Zamek Culture Centre in Poznań (ul.
Św. Marcin 80/82). Polka is the second piece developed by Gorzkowski in collaboration with the director of the Polish Dance Theatre, following the 2017 piece The Harvest, which inaugurated The Year of Sorcerers, the first of the thematic seasons at the Polish Dance Theatre.
About the piece:
On the seventh day Our Lord, creator of all things, rested from all his work. And it occurred that Our Lord dozed off, and as he slept, a melody sneaked into his head through his ear and refused to leave until Our Lord has named it. And the Lord said, ?Let there be a Polka.? The premiere of Polka is organised as part of The Year of Gods 2018 at the Polish Dance Theatre. The idea of the programme focuses on divine issues, figures, and symbols, in which the divinity of phenomena/figures is understood as custom or acclamation, social recognition or self-recognition. The Year of Gods 2018 is another instalment in the current programme (2016-2020) of the Polish Dance Theatre, whose slogan ?Polski/wielko-polski? aims to glorify Polish art.
