On Sunday, 13 April (7 pm) Anna Nowicka will debut her new solo at the Old Brewery in Poznań (Studio Słodownia +3, ul. Półwiejska 42). In I never fall together, because I never fall apart the artist attempts to construct a mobile (movable, mutable) self-portrait that fails to be captured and fixed. In this constant becoming she unveils a rip through which an agglomerate of a fragments that define us flows in. Individual and collective memories, beliefs, expectations, lies, dreams, promises, clichés and second hand experiences that shape body as a site of a struggle. A push out of a comfort zone, a search for a change and parade of trust. This performance of instability welcomes the inevitable fall, which brakes the representational pattern and opens the void in which self faces the multitude without desire to grab and hold.

Anna Nowicka graduated from the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) in Salzburg, Ernst-Busch/HZT in Berlin, and the psychology department of the University of Warsaw. In her artistic explorations she focuses on relations between the sleeping and the dancing body, and in particular on the choreography of the imagined. In her practice she investigates a multiplicity of seeing perspectives and possibilities of using different points of view as tools to discover and reveal all possible images, even those seemingly unavailable to the eye. She considers choreographing as a continuous examination of the relation and tension between the creative process and its outcome (understood also as a side-effect of research). Anna?s artistic journey began when she meet Anna Godowska and developed with her long-time collaboration with Slovenian choreographer Mala Kline. Since 2010, when she took part in the Solo Project, Anna?s individual choreographic practice has been linked with the Art Stations Foundation in Poznań. She has been awarded a range of prizes and scholarships; her piece fire is raging in your hair won the 100 GRAD festival in Berlin (2012), while her solo truth is just a plain picture. said bob. was shown at the Polish Dance Platform 2012. Currently, Anna studies at The School of Images  under Dr Catherine Shainberg, dividing her life between Berlin and Poland.
