The Cracovia Danza Ballet was invited to Rome to represent Poland and Krakow among tourist organizations at an event entitled Poland and Tuscany: Renaissance Harmony, presenting the performance Wawel Masquerade of Queen Bona.
The performance, which will take place at the Forum Romanum in the church of San Lorenzo degli Speziali in Miranda, will be part of an event in which the early music ensemble from Tuscany, Auser Musici, will also take part.
The show presents stories that could have happened at a masquerade ball in the Wawel chambers. Dancers, in rich Renaissance costumes and stylized masks, transport viewers to the world of Renaissance carnival, fantasy, dreams, love and court intrigue.
The inspiration for the creators of the masks used in the performance are the mascarons from the Sukiennice (Cloth Hall) in Krakow, made by Santi Gucci, a sculptor brought from Italy by Bona Sforza.
During the event, the early music ensemble from Tuscany, Auser Musici, will also perform, conducted by Carlo Ipata. The last piece, Del bell’Arno in sù la Riva, will be performed by the dancers of the Cracovia Danza Ballet together with the music ensemble. The event is organized by the Polish Institute in Rome, the Foreign Center of the Polish Tourist Organization in Rome, and the Krakow City Office.
