Aleksandra Ścibor – dancer, translator-interpreter, teacher. A certified instructor of contemporary dance. She graduated in English studies from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (specialization: conference interpreting) and from the Postgraduate Studio of Culture Managers (Warsaw School of Economics). She is engaged in contemporary dance, improvisation, contact improvisation, authentic movement and physical dance.

Her dance teachers were Kama Jankowska and Witold Jurewicz. Since 2005 she has collaborated with Alter Dance Theatre in Kalisz, and since 2008 – in Łódź. She appeared in the group’s performances, such as: Claw (2006), What would you do if you could do what you can’t do (2007), Shitty Dance Shitty (2008), And what… (2009) and Lovers (2010) – all directed and choreographed by Jurewicz.

In 2009 she participated in Happy, a project by Nigel Charnock (UK), a co-founder of DV8 group. The project was held as part of the Old Brewery New Dance programme, coordinated by Joanna Leśnierowska (Art Stations Foundation).

She has collaborated with Jacek Owczarek (Pracownia Fizyczna, Events, 2010) and Rafał Dziemidok (Grupa Koncentrat, Nut. Squirrel, 2010). A member of MOVIN’ ŁÓDŹ Association. She has performed at festivals in Poland, including Contact Zone in Kalisz, International Dance Theatres Festival in Lublin and Sic! International Dance Improvisation Festival in Warsaw.

She was granted a scholarship from Alternative Dance Academy – educational, choreographic and dance programme in Stary Browar (Art Stations Foundation, edition April 2009 – March 2010).

In 2011 she was an artist in residence of Solo Project – residence programme for young choreographers of the Old Brewery New Dance performing section. As a resident, Ścibor created a solo Only bad girls go,wherever they want (artistic consultation: Ornell Balester and Luca Giacomo Schulte).

She is also involved in dance education. She has run workshops in Poland and abroad (Vilnius, Istanbul). She is a lecturer of contemporary dance at Academy of Humanities and Economics in Łódź (Faculty of Cultural Studies, Specialization: Dance) as well as improvisation and partnering at the Private Staszic School in Kielce (Faculty of Dance). She is the co-author of www.contactimprovisation.eu

She is engaged in translation of technical language of dance. She translates for the Polish Dance Theatre and for Sic! International Dance Improvisation Festival.
