Andrzej Adamczak – dancer, choreographer, first soloist in the Polish Dance Theatre – Poznań Ballet.

He graduated from the ballet school in Poznań and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (in ballet pedagogy) in Warsaw.

He started his career in the Grand Theatre in Poznań, where he danced mainly in demi-classical, but also character and classical pieces. While in the Grand Theatre in Poznań, he also took part in Swan Lake (1995) by Ewa Wycichowska and Dobranoc (Good Night, 1997) by Paweł (currently Mikołaj) Mikołajczyk. He continued his collaboration with Mikołajczyk on the project Żegnaj, Polsko (Farewell, Poland, 2001) in the Opera in the Castle, Szczecin, which was the premiere of “DNA Dance Theatre – theatre stored in DNA” – Mikołajczyk’s original theatre run in Szczecin.

In 2001, he also joined the Polish Dance Theatre – Poznań Ballet, right after the premiere. Currently he dances in all performances of the Polish Dance Theatre, including choreographies by Ewa Wycichowska, Ohad Naharin, Yossi Berg, Jacek Przybyłowicz, Istvan Yuhos-Putto and Thierry Verger In the Polish Dance Theatre he also made his debut as a choreographer. He created the following choreographies there: Scherzo cis-moll op.39 no 3 by Chopin, ja-jo, … szparagijem, Basia, Wchodzę part III, Scan, Three sisters – imagination.

He collaborates as a teacher and choreographer with the Secondary Ballet School in Poznań. He also gives regular classes at International Contemporary Dance Workshops and Open Contemporary Dance Classes.

He twice won the main price for the best contemporary choreography in the Wojciech Wiesiołłowski National Dance Competition in Gdańsk (2003 and 2005) and the price for the most interesting choreography in the 2nd National Ballet Competition for the Youngest Dancers (2006). He also received the Poznań Young Artists Award (2004) and Young Art Medal (2009).
