Elżbieta Jaroń – In 1960 she graduated from the Ballet School in Warsaw (with honours in classical dance). Immediately after school, she was engaged by the Opera in Warsaw (soon renamed the Teatr Wielki). In 1961 she made her debut as the Fire Spirits in The Tale of the Stone Flower by Prokofiev. In December 1961 she won 1st prize of the 2nd National Stage Dance Competition. In this way, she received the part of Swanhilde created by Feliks Parnell in the Opera in Łódź (1962). In 1962 Afredo Rodrigues cast her in the role of the Chosen One in The Rite of Spring. This ballet was the turning point in her career. In 1964, on a tour of the group in West Germany, a local film studio shot The Rite of Spring preformed by the Polish ballet. Several years later, Igor Stravinsky, being for the first time in post-war Poland, chose Danse sacrale from The Rite of Spring performed by Elżbieta Jaroń for his biographical film produced at that time by Columbia Pictures. In the Teatr Wielki, with its temporary home in Roma, Elżbieta Jaroń created many unforgettable characters. She danced with such dancers as: Feliks Malinowski, Zbigniew Strzałkowski, Janusz Smoliński, Wojciech Wiesiołłowski, Gerard Wilk, Jerzy Makarowski, Stanisław Szymański, Dariusz Blajer, Zdzisław Ćwioro, including performances abroad, in many European countries and the USA. In 1972 Elżbieta Jaroń won a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art at the School of Contemporary Dance in London. In 1974 a TV film “Dance by Elżbieta Jaroń” directed by Jadwiga Żukowska was created. It was rewarded at the International Music Film Festival in Besançon, France. In 1976–1980 she studied pedagogy at the Music Academy in Warsaw (graduated with honours). In 1981–82 she was the director of the Teatr Wielki’s ballet in Warsaw (she was chosen by the ballet’s members). As a teacher, she worked in Spain, and periodically – at the Ballet School in Warsaw.
