Klaudia Carlos-Machej holds a Ph.D. in humanities and D.Litt. in Music Arts. A university lecturer, she specializes in Polish national dances and sits on juries of various dance competitions. In 2019, she was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Dance at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music (UMFC) in Warsaw. She majored in ballet pedagogy at the Faculty of Music Education of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw (1995), and completed postgraduate studies in journalism at the Institute of Political Science and Journalism of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań (2001) and Postgraduate Studies in Cultural Management in the Structures of the European Union at the Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2017). Since 1995, she has been a lecturer at the Fr. Chopin Academy of Music; from 2012 to 2019, she served as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Choral Conducting, Music Education, Church Music, Rhythm and Dance at the UMFC; in 2019, she served as the Head of Postgraduate Studies in Dance Theory (2019). From 1996 through 2011, she worked as a mime dancer and dance teacher at the Warsaw Chamber Opera (1996-2011), following a five year stint as a dancer at the T. Sygietyński State Folk Song and Dance Ensemble “Mazowsze” (1990-1995). In 1990, she graduated from the State Ballet School in Poznań. She specializes in Polish national dances and is a co-founder of the Polish Dances Forum at the UMFC.
