Zbigniew Kocięba graduated from the Janina Jarzynówna-Sobczak Ballet School in Gdańsk. He won the 3rd prize at the 18th Polish National Ballet Competition in Gdańsk in the contemporary dance category. He participated in the International Contemporary Dance Workshops in Poznań, the Maria Kong Dancers Company Coaching Project and GAGA technique workshops held by Yoshifumi Inao of the Batsheva Dance Company.
In the 2012/2013 season he joined the Polish Dance Theatre. He has performed in Minus 2 (choreographed by Ohad Naharin), Alexanderplatz (choreographed by Paulina Wycichowska), Maathai (choreographed by Niels Claes), Hello, Stranger! (choreographed by Paweł Malicki), two parts of the PDT’s jubilee project XL. Polish Dance Theatre Yesterday and Today:Conrad Drzewiecki in memoriam. Artists Yesterday and Today and Episode I: Don Juan and Others, Wish You Were Here (choreographed by Ewa Wycichowska), and Forty (choreographed by Jo Strmgren).
