Izadora Weiss?s A Midsummer Night?s Dream will be shown twice this Saturday, 31 May at the Harbiye Muhsin Ertu?rul Theatre as part of the 19th Istanbul Theatre Festival. The production is among the best foreign works presented every second year during this prestigious Turkish event, whose history dates back to 1989. The BDT?s A Midsummer Night?s Dream has already been praised by international critics, with positive reviews published by the Financial Times or the Ballet Magazine. Writing in Dance Europe, Graham Watts named the piece the best dance premiere of the 2012/2013 season, while Bruce Marriotts wrote in his review of the premiere on www.dancetabs.com that ?[i]t?s a production that you could take anywhere in the world and it would connect with people?.

Writing about the BDT in Dance Europe in January 2014, Graham Watts called Izadora Weiss the company?s ?driving force? and stressed that she ?confronts challenging material at either end of the comedy/tragedy spectrum and delivers arresting choreography, articulating her narrative intentions with strength and clarity. With quality of output, Baltic Dance Theatre is rapidly emerging as a fascinating new force in European contemporary dance?.

The piece won Izadora Weiss the Jan Kiepura Musical Theatre Award for the best choreographer and the Honorary Theatre Award of the City of Gdańsk.

The event is held as part of the cultural programme celebrating 600 years of Polish-Turkish diplomatic relations in 2014.
