A pre-premiere of “dancing for the birds, they watching us”, a project by choreographer and performer Magda Przybysz (Poland) and composer Sergei Miangardt (Germany), is taking place on Friday, 24 May at 7 pm in Cologne’s Freihandelszone (Krefelder Straße 71). The project dancing for the birds, they watching usby the duo of choreographer and performer Magda Przybysz (PL) and composer Sergej Miangardt (GER) was produced as part of two residency stays – in Gdansk’s Club Żak and Cologne’s Freihendelszon – and in artistic cooperation with Trajal Harrell (USA), considered an enfant terrible of contemporary dance. dancing for the birds, they watching usis a decollage of sound and movement resulting from a deconstruction of breakthrough performances and music videos of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, as well as from a reflection on the history of dance, the universe and time. The project’s starting point was a letter from George Maciunas of the famous Fluxus community to William de Ridder in which he wrote: “Fluxus has nothing to do with pop art”.

The premiere will take place in Gdańsk during the Gdansk Dance Festival (4 June).
