On Sunday, 26 May (7 pm) the Baltic Opera will host the premiere of the latest production of the Baltic Dance Theatre –A Midsummer Night’s Dream by IzadoraWeiss. Below is an excerpt from a text by Marek Weiss, the Opera’s director:
“AfterRomeo and Juliet Izadora Weiss is exploring another Shakespeare play. This time round her intention is to stay maximally true to this magical tale of love and sex that A Midsummer Night’s Dream is. She invited onboard the excellent fashion designer Gosia Baczyńska. Izadora Weiss decided to set the choreography to the music of Goran Bregović, so different from her previous choices, which favoured baroque music and guitar and cello sounds. The choreography, full of complicated nuances, is created for an ensemble whose every dancer is a separate world of emotions and an intriguing personality.”
Following performances in Gdańsk are scheduled for on 28-30 May and 7 June (inauguration of Eurovision Young Dancers).
