On Saturday, 13 January 2018, the Olga Sławska-Lipczyńska Ballet School in Poznań hosted the second edition of the Polish pre-selection for the Grand Prix de Paris 2018 competition. Grand Prix de Paris is an international competition for dancers, and the largest European audition that enables young professional dancers between 16 and 26 years of age to present a solo on stage in front of directors of theatres, opera, and dance companies, as well as choreographers working in each country (and internationally).

 

The Grand Prix de Paris Polish pre-selection jury, made up of: Daniel Agésilas ? president of the Jury (Opéra de Paris), Jacek Przybyłowicz ? independent choreographer and choreography and dance theory lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw; Magdalena Ciechowicz ? director of the Wrocław Opera ballet company; Iwona Pasińska ? director of the Polish Dance Theare in Poznań, represented by Anna Królica ? dance critic and curator; and Paul Vaudeville ? general director and founder of Grand Prix de Paris, qualified five contestants for the final Grand Prix de Paris gala, which will take place on 3 March 2018 in Paris.

 

The list of Polish finalists includes: Mieszko Chomka, 17 y.o. ( contemporary dance) of the Caro Dance Studio in Siedlce; Helena Kozaczko, 16 y.o. (classical dance) ?student at the Olga Sławska-Lipczyńska Ballet School in Poznań; Cezary Borowik, 22 y.o. (contemporary dance) of the Egurrola Dance Studio in Cracow; Kinga Furmaniak, 20 y.o. (contemporary dance), student at the Eugeniusz Piasecki Academy of Physical Education in Poznań; and Szymon Pacholec, 18 y.o. (contemporary dance), student at the Olga Sławska-Lipczyńska Ballet School in Poznań.

 

Scheduled for 3 March 2018, the Grand Prix de Paris 2018 gala at Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris 3 will showcase 25 top-notch young dancers from around the continent.    

 

The GRAND PRIX DE PARIS 2018 Finalists will perform in front of a prestigious jury presided by Daniel Agesilas of Opéra de Paris, former director at Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP); Noëlla Pontois, Étoile at Opéra de Paris; Marie-Claude Pietragalla, Étoile at Opéra de Paris and choreographer at Théâtre du Corps; Cathy Bisson, choreographer and dance professor at Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP); Kader Belarbi, Étoile at Opéra de Paris, artistic director at Théâtre du Capitole; Boucherf Redda, hip-hop choreographer hip-hop and director of the Evidanse company; Thierry Malandain, director of the National Choreographic Centre? Biarritz Ballet;  Robert Swinston, director of Centre National de Danse Contemporaine ? Angers; Angelin Preljocaj, director of Preljocaj Pavillon Noir, represented by Guillaume Siard; Magdalena Ciechowicz, director of the Wrocław Opera ballet company; Jacek Przybyłowicz, independent choreographer and choreography and dance theory lecturer at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw; Nicolas Leriche, Étoile at Opéra de Paris, artistic director at the Royal Swedish Opera (invited); Eleonora Abbagnato, director of Teatro dell?Opera di Roma (invited); Marco Batti, dancer and choreographer at Balletto di Siena (invited); José Carlos Martínez, choreographer and Étoile at Opéra de Paris (invited); François Deletraz, critic at the ?Music ? Opera ? Dance? section at ?Le Figaro? and Paul Vaudeville, founder and director of Grand Prix de Paris.
