We are pleased to inform that on 30 November (Saturday), Aleksandra Bożek-Muszyńska and Magdalena Jędra began their study visit in New York and Philadelphia. The visit is organised by Movement Research within the GPS/Global Practice Sharing Program in co-operation with Art Stations Foundation and the Institute of Music and Dance. Within the project, the Polish artists will participate in the Movement Research Fall Festival and in the public meeting with other participants of the program ? GPS Chats (3 December). They will also have the opportunity to present their practice/work during an evening shared with local artists in the legendary Judson Church (9 December). During the meeting, Polish artists will discuss their creative practices, the arts and culture sector in their home cities, and regional issues affecting their work. Following their research residencies in NYC from November 30-December 15, 2019, GPS is supporting a weeklong residency in Philadelphia, PA.

After their stay in New York, the artists will go to Philadelphia, where, thanks to the cooperation of Here[begin]dance a.k.a. Zornits Stoyanova Projects in cooperation with Movement Research, the artist will make a one-week study visit. They will conduct free workshops and present their work at The Iron Factory in South Kensington from 17-19 December 2019. The show will feature choreographies by Bulgarian artist Zornitsa Stoyanova based in Philadelphia.

About the woshops: Aleksandra Bożek-Muszyńska will teach an improvisational workshop open to all movement levels called The body knows! Madga Jędra?s workshop will circulate around the issues from her new work Botanic Body and will also include improvisational modalities.

About the artists:

Aleksandra Bożek-Muszyńska is a Polish-based performer, choreographer, improviser, business coach and interpreter. Scholarship holder of Alternative Dance Academy (2015) run by Art Stations Foundation by Grażyna Kulczyk and Intensive Course at School For New Dance Development in Amsterdam in 2015. In 2017, together with Hanna Bylka-Kanecka, she co-created the Holobiont collective, which runs interdisciplinary multi-generational projects based around workshops and performance. In her practice she explores the boundaries between performing and facilitating, between naivety and simplicity, and between finding patterns and breaking them. Excitement and pleasure are important parts of her work.

Magda Jędra ? dancer, performer, choreographer. Co-founder of the Good Girl Killer group. She is open to activities in different spaces and to work with amateur performers. The low inclination to classify art results in her performative collages. The first assumption in the work on the performance is to work in the process and the most important motivation to look for specific movement quality to build a clear expression. She likes unconventional solutions. The last fascination is herbs, buds and shoots. She tries to recognize what is growing around. A careful consumer. She lives in Gdańsk on the Hill of Magellana.
