Przemek Kamiński, Mateusz Szymanówka and Marta Ziółek are currently working together on So Emotional, whose premiere is scheduled for 7-8 January 2017 in Nowy Theatre in Warsaw, as part of Dance Activism. Choreographic spaces series. The project is carried out in cooperation with International Visegrad Fund ? Performing Arts, art quarter budapest, Adam Mickiewicz Institute. The performance work in progress will be staged in Budapest in Trafó House of Contemporary Arts on 16 December at 6 pm.
So Emotional uses choreographic tools to explore theatre in its capacity to become a ?machine? producing affects, emotions and moods and distribute them between the stage and the audience. The performance is the outcome of choreographic research investigating performers? affective labour and some contemporary forms that move us. Is there still a place for catharsis, collective ecstasy and mass hysteria in the theatre nowadays?
So Emotional looks at the body?s ability to act, resist and transform individually and collectively.

Przemek Kamiński ? performer and choreographer. He received the Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance, Context, Choreography at HZT Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin. He works in the context of both performing and visual arts. He is interested in choreography as an expanded practice, which unfolds into a variety of formats and media. His works have been presented, among others, in: Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Jan Tarsin City Art Gallery in Kalisz, Labirynt Gallery in Lublin, Art Stations Foundation in Poznań, Art Museum in Łódź, Hamburger Bahnhof Museum fur Gegenwart in Berlin, PQ Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space in Prague, Malta Festival in Poznań, or Uferstudios in Berlin. He collaborates on a regular basis with Berlin choreographer Isabelle Schad. He has also performed in projects of such artists as: Juan Dominguez Rojo, Krzysztof Garbaczewski, Nicole Seiler, Kirstine Kyhl Andersen, Harakiri Farmers (Dominika Knapik, Wojciech Klimczyk), Julian Webee and others.
Mateusz Szymanówka is a dramaturge and curator in the field of contemporary performance, dance and choreography. He graduated from cultural, theatre and dance studies in Warsaw and Berlin. He has cooperated with Agata Siniarska, Korina Kordova, Ania Nowak, Marta Ziółek, Przemek Kamiński and Martin Hansen. As a curator, he has prepared projects and programmes for the Studio Theatre in Warsaw (the Summer edition of the Dance Scene Like a Thing, 2016), the City Art Gallery in Kalisz (Back to the Future, 2016), the Museum of Art in Łódź (the exhibition Frames of Reference. Choreography in the Museum, co-curated with Katarzyna Słoboda 2016). In 2016 he received the Grażyna Kulczyk Research Scholarship in Contemporary Choreography. Within this scholarship project, he created ?Choreographic Think Tank? ? a research platform dedicated to studies on choreographic practices developed by the Polish and the international dance scene. He is a participant of the 3rd cycle of ?Critical Practice (Made in YU)?.
Marta Ziółek is a choreographer and performer. She studied choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam and was a student of an Inter-Faculty Humanities Programme at the University of Warsaw. She received a prestigious scholarship from the danceWEB during ImpulsTanzFestival in Vienna (2011), she was one of the participants of ?Europe in Motion? addressed to young choreographers (2012). In 2013, she received a scholarship from the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (2013). Lately, she has presented e.g. a project Black on Black inspired by a series of black paintings by Rodchenko, exploring the idea of ?Black choreography?, in Teatr Hetveem in Amsterdam and Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. She has also created a choreography for Ewelina is crying by Anna Karasińska (TR Warsaw). She is a co-creator of KEM space in Warsaw together with Alex Baczyński-Jenkins. In her work, Marta Ziółek tests performative boundaries and focuses on widening the field of choreographic practice. Through the means of her interdisciplinary approach, she is studying the boundaries between the visual arts, performance and choreography.
