On 21-22 October 2018, the Polish Dance Theatre will perform at the China Shanghai International Arts Festival (CSIAF), China?s only nationwide international arts festival. Organised by the Municipal People?s Government of Shanghai, the event will be hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Chinese People?s Republic. The CSIAF ranks among Shanghai?s major cultural events. Oriented towards international cultural exchange and presentations of art pieces from around the world, the 2017 edition of this prestigious event attracted an audience of 4 million, and the scores of artists participating in the previous edition includes such household names as the Berliner Philharmoniker and the theatre director Peter Brook.

This year?s edition of the festival is unique due to the twentieth anniversary of the event. It will span dozens of dance and theatre pieces, accompanied by musical events, exhibitions, and an artistic educational programme ?Art Space,? as well as performing arts fairs or the young talents? programme. The Polish Dance Theatre will perform alongside such companies as the China National Opera House,  National Ballet of China, New York City Ballet, Shanghai Ballet, Akram Khan Company, Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Australian Ballet, Maria Pagés Dance Company or  Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal.

The 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival will begin on 19 October and conclude on 18 November. The Polish Dance Theatre will present The Harvest directed by Igor Gorzkowski, which will be featured as part of the Polish focus held to celebrate the centenary of Poland?s regained independence. The presentations will take place on 21-22 October at the Shanghai Theatre Academy (7:30 pm). The venture has been financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage as part of the Multiannual Programme NIEPODLEGŁA 2017-2021, within the frame of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute?s ?Asia? Programme, which strives to popularise contemporary Polish culture in Asia. The programme is implemented through a sustained presence of Polish artists at key festivals and major cultural institutions in China, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and India.
