On Saturday 1 Ocotber 2016 at 8.30 pm, a premiere Kaya Kołodziejczyk?s Audition V is taking place as part of 15th Body/Mind Festival. Audition V is a performative installation and a movement opera with video and voice elements. Performance is a meta-opera to texts by Jacek Bieriezin, Zbigniew Dolecki and Sławomir Mrożek, where the dancers, music composition, scenography and visual elements are equal elements. Six years after the premiere of Audition 4, Kaya Kołodziejczyk took on the task of producing the next part of Andrzej Krzanowski?s vocal/instrumental/performative cycle, so far not staged. This lengthy project had been preceded by research on avant-garde music and theatre of the 1960s and 1970s, which had considerable influence on choreography creation.
Architectonic experiments on human body, computer graphics, interactive animations responding to sound and movement, somatic techniques, film images, a choir commenting on the events, musicians playing the instruments (whistles, ocarinas, sirens) ? all these elements create a music score to the Polish composer?s sensual spectacle. Kołodziejczyk focuses primarily on movement and voice, treating them as a starting point for production of the whole opera. She interprets the music but also gives new meanings to the lyrics. She is the first to use the literary texts selected by the composer and put him in the position of the playwright. Images inscribed into the music score need the audience?s involvement in order to resound fully. This necessity of interaction makes it possible to interpret this reconstruction of Krzanowski?s work in completely new ways. Therefore, it is not a closed form one that opens the viewers to new experiences and makes them perceive it with as many senses as possible.
Meeting with choreographer Kaya Kołodziejczyk will take place after the performance on 2 October at 6 pm.
