From Monday, 4 August tickets for the performance of Compagnie Maguy Marin on 25 October 2014 in Warsaw are available for booking and purchase at the box office of the Teatr Wielki ?Polish National Opera in Warsaw. The presentation will be one of the highlights of the 21st International Meeting of Live Arts ?Crossroads 2014? ? Meetings of Artists from France and Poland. Création 2014  will only just debut a month before, in September, and then be shown at the 16th Biennale de la Danse in Lyon. It is Maguy Marin?s 46th production. It focuses on rhythm, investigating what form arises from rhythm, and how each individual?s different rhythm could be harmonised so that we were all able to live side by side.

Crossroads will also see Maguy Marin talking about her work, aided by videos of her past choreographies. (24 October, 6pm, Centre for Contemporary Art ?Ujazdowski Castle).

Maguy Marin  is a prominent French choreographer and dancer. Her work verges on dance, theatre and visual arts. She is well-recognised for her innovatory artistic explorations and her depictions of the human condition. She danced for the ballet of the Strasbourg opera and Maurice Béjart?s Ballet of the 20th Century, where she debuted as choreographer in 1976. In 1978, together with Daniel Ambush, she founded Ballet Théâtre de l’Arche, renamed in 1984 as Compagnie Maguy Marin. Since 1987 Marin has been collaborating with composer Denis Mariott. In 1984?1997 Maguy Marin headed the choreographic centre in Créteil, and in 1998?2010 she directed the choreographic centre in Rillieux-la-Pape. In 2011 she came back to her native Toulouse, where she leads her company. Her pieces are collages of quotations from everyday behaviours and metaphoric scenes. They combine universal topics and a criticism of consuming societies. Marin has completed about 40 pieces for her company, and a few choreographies for the ballets of the Lyon and Paris operas, the Het Nationaal Ballet in Amsterdam, and the Nederlands Dans Theater in The Hague. She was awarded choreographic prizes at international competitions in Nyon in 1977 and Bagnolet in 1978. In 1983 she was awarded the Grand Prix National de Chorégraphie. She has also received the French  Order of Arts and Letters. Her most praised works are May B. (1981), Cendrillon (1985), and Umwelt (2004).
