SUNDORA & DGENDU is a contemporary dance company established in Switzerland in 2013 by two independent choreographers and dancers, Dorota Łęcka and Gérald Durand. Their work emphasises the exploration of the physicality of the body and its mediative capacity. They dedicate their research to the understanding of human potential which can be discovered and expressed through stage presence, creative movement and the perception of movement in the eyes of the audience.

 

Founders:

SUNDORA (Dorota Karolina Łęcka) was born in Warsaw, Poland. She completed her professional dance education in contemporary dance and Movement Research by gaining Bachelor and Master diploma at the Institute for Dance Arts at ABPU in Linz, Austria. She worked with MuTerminal and Company Gergye Krisztian in Budapest, Hungary, Rose Breuss/Cie.Off Verticality and Editta Braun Company in Austria. She also worked with Jozef Fruček and Linda Kapetanea for Rootless Root Dance Company and, as a dancer and Joe Alters assistant, for Joe Dance Group in San Diego, USA, where she also taught contemporary dance at the SDSU. In 2011, she began her collaboration with Compagnie Linga in Switzerland. In 2013, together with Gérald Durand she established her own contemporary dance company Sundora & Dgendu.

DGENDU (Gérald Durand) was born in Paris, France. He studied dance at the Paris Opera, where he gained diploma from the Ballet School. He started his professional career with Maurice Béjart at the Béjart Ballet Lausanne and he went on to work for international dance companies: Company Conte Sconta in Italy, Company Gulbenkian in Portugal, the Stadttheater Basel and the Stadttheater Bern in Switzerland, as well as the renowned Ballets de Monte-Carlo. He joined Company Linga in Switzerland in 2005. In 2013, together with Dorota Łęcka, he launched Sundora & Dgendu their own contemporary dance company.
